A Wave for Emilie by Judith Skillman

A Wave for Emilie

Judith Skillman is interested in the intense feelings engendered by the  natural world. She loves the interplay of light between land and water. Her medium is oil on canvas, and she aspires to create an unlabored sensibility of the pastoral. Skillman began as an art major at Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College), and then switched to an MA in English Literature. Currently she studies at the Seattle Artist’s League, under the mentorship of Ruthie V.

In addition to painting, Skillman is a poet and the author of seventeen full-length collections, two of which have been finalists for the Washington State Book Award. Storm (Blue Begonia, 1998) received funding from the Academy of American Poets. Work has appeared in Poetry, The Southern Review, The Iowa Review, The Midwest Quarterly, Prairie Schooner, New Poets of the American West, and other journals and anthologies.

New work includes “Pacific,” “Storm Front,” and “Mercer Slough,” available for viewing on SaatchiArt.com and also on FineArtAmerica.com. More at: www.judithskillman.com.
