Ava C. Cipri – Five Photographs
Artist’s Statement on Beauty
Regardless if the medium is a poem, a dance, or a photograph, the intention is the same; to capture the beauty of what may otherwise be lost. It’s attempting to distill the essence of something so fleeting and preserve it; to give its voice agency by choosing from a variety of containers. It’s about holding a conversation between artist and viewer, and inhabiting that space, a place of beauty.

Ava C. Cipri recently picked up a camera and she can’t put it down. She is a poetry editor for The Deaf Poets Society: An Online Journal of Disability Literature & Art. Ava holds an MFA from Syracuse University, where she served on the staff of Salt Hill. Her poetry and nonfiction appears or is forthcoming in Literary Orphans, Menacing Hedge, Noble / Gas Qtrly, and Room, among others. Ava’s first chapbook Queen of Swords is forthcoming this fall 2017 from Dancing Girl Press. More at: www.avaccipri.com; Twitter at @AvaCCipri.
