Peacock Journal strives to publish beautiful creative works.
Please read the guidelines below carefully before you submit work (and please note our “Alice’s Restaurant” Rule).

Submission Guidelines

Peacock Journal is a literary journal devoted to beauty. We publish short fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, visual art, and interviews. We seek work that explores, celebrates, or reflects beauty in any of its countless forms. We especially value clarity, honesty, and resonance.

We believe beauty is deeply subjective and infinitely varied. It may be lush or spare, joyful or aching, classical or wild. Your work does not need to describe beauty directly, but it should, in some way, embody it.

We encourage submissions from writers and artists of all backgrounds and traditions. We welcome both established and emerging voices.

🖋️ What to Submit

Poetry
 3 to 5 poems; no more than 60 lines each
All styles are welcome.

Fiction, Nonfiction, and Hybrid Prose
One piece at a time, up to 3,000 words.
Flash, micro, vignettes, and traditional forms are all welcome.
If submitting several very short pieces, please include them in a single document.

Translations
2 to 5 pieces, copyrights must be cleared prior to sending

Visual Art and Photography
Submit 1–5 pieces in JPG or PNG format.
Include title, medium, and any brief notes you’d like us to consider.

Audio and Video
Submit 1–5 pieces. Audio should be in mp3 format; video in a standard format (mp4 preferred).

Author’s Note on Beauty
Please include a short reflection (2–4 sentences) on your sense of beauty.
This is not an artist’s statement—it is a personal note that may be published alongside your work.

Author Bio
Include a brief biography (no more than 200 words), please limit mentioned journals to a favored few. Bios may be edited to house style.

Author Photo
Should be in color, with good resolution.

All unsolicited work must be original and previously unpublished. All submissions will be considered for online publication as well as inclusion in future print anthologies.

Please upload your files as a Word or PDF document. Include your name and contact information inside the file. We prefer previously unpublished work but will consider reprints if rights have reverted—please note prior publication details.

⏳ Response Time

We aim to respond to all submissions within 7 days.
If you do not hear from us within a week, you are welcome to assume your work has not been accepted and are free to submit it elsewhere.

We regret that we are not able to offer individual responses or editorial feedback at this time. We read every submission with care and gratitude.

🔄 Simultaneous Submissions

Simultaneous submissions are welcome. If your work is accepted elsewhere, please notify us promptly.

📚 Rights

All rights revert to you upon publication. If your work is reprinted elsewhere, please credit Peacock Journal as the original publisher.
